Battered AZ has nineteen players left for the European duel with Napoli

Despite the corona outbreak within the club, AZ has been able to mobilize nineteen players for the visit to Napoli. The Alkmaarders boarded a plane on Wednesday morning to southern Italy for the game in the Europa League.

The selection consists of three keepers. Most notable absentee is striker Myron Boadu. The other ten players who kicked off against VVV-Venlo last Saturday are all available.

The day before that match, AZ was startled by nine corona infections within the club. On Tuesday, more infections came to light, causing a total of thirteen players to be infected with the virus. The majority of them have no complaints, the club reports.

Velthuis and Gullit

UEFA prescribes that football must be played when thirteen players are available. AZ ultimately has a slightly larger staff than was estimated on Tuesday. Tijs Velthuis and Maxim Gullit have been added to the group of players from the promises.

The Napoli-AZ match starts on Thursday at 6.55 p.m.
