Bill Cosby found guilty of abusing minor in civil case

A California jury found Bill Cosby guilty of sexually assaulting a minor in 1975. This is a civil case. The victim, Judy Huth, will be awarded half a million dollars in damages for the emotional damage she sustained.

Huth said she and a friend were invited by the comedian to the Playboy Mansion at the time. She was 16 years old at the time, Cosby 37. The jury found it proven that Cosby, now 84, forced her to perform sexual acts.

Cosby, who did not appear in court, denies. He did make a statement years ago in a video that was shown to the jury. Cosby says he cannot remember Huth and because she was a minor at the time, it cannot have happened, is his reasoning.

The case against Cosby had been going on since 2014. Huth said her son was about the same age as her when the abuse took place that year. That, and the fact that more women were accusing Cosby, brought back memories of the abuse, which is why she started a case after all.

The ruling comes 11 months after Cosby was released from prison after Pennsylvania’s highest court dismissed charges of sexual assault.
