Renze Klamer and Fidan Ekiz are replaced as presenters of Eve (NPO 1). According to broadcaster BNNVARA, the program lacks “the urgency we are looking for”. That is why the talk show will be given a new interpretation from August 30 with other presenters.
Sophie Hilbrand and Khalid Kasem will alternately present the program. “So not a duo, but one presenter who is on top of it and conducts and determines the conversation of the day,” BNNVARA writes in a statement. Klamer and Ekiz will present other programs at the broadcaster in the future.
Hilbrand has been one of the faces of the late night-program On 1. For this she presented, among other things: Squirt and Swallow, Try Before You Die and List 0. She has also starred in a number of TV series and movies.
Kasem has no experience presenting a talk show. He currently runs a law firm and acted as spokesperson for footballer Abdelhak Nouri’s family. In 2020 he came second in the knowledge quiz The smartest person.
The lawyer already had talks with BNNVARA last year to present the program. That went awry after the AD reported that Kasem would have been guilty of leaking information to criminal Ridouan T. He then withdrew as an intended presenter. Last February, the dean of the Amsterdam Bar Association concluded that no evidence of the leak had been found.
Renze Klamer says via Twitter that he is “perplexed” about the decision, which he says he received only 24 hours ago. “Deleted due to lack of urgency, while management prior to season 2 was instructed: more entertainment.”
