Canadian singer Céline Dion has canceled all performances on her world tour. She suffers from a rare neurological condition.
A message on the singer’s website states that she is currently unable to prepare for the concerts, let alone perform. All performances of the Courage World Tour from August 26, 2023 to April 22, 2024 have been cancelled. Dion would also be in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam three times in August.
The 55-year-old singer, known for the world hit My Heart Will Go Onannounced on Instagram in December that she suffers from the stiff personsyndrome, a neurological disorder in which the central nervous system is affected. Dion therefore has difficulty walking and singing.
The website states that Dion hopes to one day be able to perform in all the cities she would actually come to, “but this is simply not the time”.
Postponed several times
In March 2020, her world tour was paused due to the corona pandemic. Before that she had already given 52 performances. The tour was supposed to resume after the corona time, but was postponed several times due to the singer’s health problems.
“I’m so sorry to disappoint you again. I’m working very hard to get stronger, but a tour can be very tough,” the singer says. She writes that she cannot keep postponing the tour and that it is therefore best to cancel the entire tour.
“I’m not giving up and I can’t wait to see you again,” she writes to her fans, who get the money for the concert tickets back.
