Cisco to leave Russia and Belarus over war in Ukraine | NOW



Cisco, the American manufacturer of network equipment, is leaving Russia and Belarus. The company will leave that to the news agency on Thursday Reuters know. The ongoing war in Ukraine was the reason for the decision.

The company already suspended its business activities in Russia and Belarus in March after Russian troops invaded Ukraine. It is now known that Cisco is withdrawing from the countries altogether.

Cisco is far from the only company leaving Russia. On Thursday it was announced that Nike would also leave the country. Other companies are also planning to leave, such as McDonald’s and automaker Renault.

Many tech companies have intervened. For example, because of the war in Ukraine, Google stopped selling online advertisements in Russia. That policy also applies to YouTube.

And Facebook blocked Russian state media pages and posts in European countries. In response, Russia blocked access to Facebook in the country.
