American director Steven Spielberg is going to work for Netflix. His production company Amblin Partners will produce multiple films for the video streaming service. It is not clear what amount is involved.
The famous filmmaker spoke out against streaming services in 2019 because of their revenue model. He also felt that films made for streaming platforms and mainly viewed on television were not allowed to compete for the Oscars.
Spielberg says he has become enthusiastic after talks with the management of Netflix. According to him, the agreement offers a “great opportunity to tell new stories and reach the public in a different way.”
Production company Amblin Partners also makes films without Spielberg’s involvement, such as the success numbers Green Book and 1917. Spielberg may also direct for Netflix. He previously won Oscars with the films Schindler’s List, in 1994, and Saving Private Ryan, in 1999.
