Dutch hockey players beat favorite Belgium in heated semi-final

The goal did not lead to a better match, but it did lead to heated emotions. Sander de Wijn tackled Arthur Van Doren, whereupon Victor Wegnez went to get a story from the Dutchman and pushed him away hard. Both De Wijn and Wegnez were allowed to think for two minutes in the dug-out. Both players got away with a green card.

Orange comes back twice

Eight minutes before the end, Belgium made a mistake, which Orange dealt with very effectively. Seve van Ass received the ball in the circle, the Wagener Stadium bounced up and Van Ass hit: 1-1. But the euphoria lasted only a minute; Belgium got a penalty corner seven minutes before the end and Alexander Hendrickx scored the 2-1.

Orange still did not give in to the favorite, it passionately chose the attack. And the Caldas team also got two penalty corners in the last minutes. Jip Janssen’s second went in with four minutes left: 2-2.

In the shoot-outs, the Orange came out on top.

In the first semi-final, Germany was 3-2 too strong for England.
