FC Eindhoven continues to dream of the Eredivisie after a victory over De Graafschap

De Graafschap was lost for a while and didn’t put Joey Sleegers in the way to solo through the center and shoot in. Within 25 minutes it was already 3-1 for the home team. Before halftime, Matthias Verreth cleared a bet from De Graafschap attacker Giovanni Korte.

In the second half, the offensive of the visitors was limited. Jeffry Fortes headed over from close range and Camiel Neghli saw his effort turned by goalkeeper Nigel Bertrams. The Superfarmers didn’t get any further.

The season is over for De Graafschap, but FC Eindhoven can continue to dream of a place in the Eredivisie, in which it was last active in 1977. In the previous three attempts in the play-offs in 2012, 2014 and 2015, the first round was the final station. Now FC Eindhoven was the first club to qualify for the second round.

In the semi-finals, Eindhoven will meet the winner of the game between ADO Den Haag and NAC Breda on Saturday. Roda JC Kerkrade and Excelsior will also be in action on Saturday and a day later, the number sixteen of the Eredivisie is the last to join the last four. The winner of the subsequent final will play in the Eredivisie next season.
