Feyenoord does not get further than 2-2 against RKC with debutant Nelson

Feyenoord did not get further than a 2-2 draw at home against RKC Waalwijk. It is the second consecutive Eredivisie game in which the team from Rotterdam lose points, after the defeat against Vitesse for the international match. The good news for Feyenoord was the excellent debut of substitute Reiss Nelson.

Feyenoord took the initiative from the kick-off and that led to opportunities in the initial phase. Marcos Senesi headed a corner kick hard on the crossbar and then Alireza Jahanbakhsh had another great chance, but the captain of the Iranian national team shot wildly over.

Moments later, RKC captain Melle Meulensteen defused a great Feyenoord chance by sliding the ball over the back line in time and Cyriel Dessers – for the first time in the starting line – also killed two more chances.

Three goals at once

Halfway through the first half, Rotterdam’s urge to act diminished and the game became a lot more moderate, but after more than half an hour the ball was suddenly in. After a lot of fumbling in the RKC defense, the ball came at the feet of Jens Toornstra, who then shot the ball in smart and watched.

The spell was broken, but three minutes later Feyenoord could start again. Michiel Kramer fell during a sparse attack by the Waalwijkers, but there was no whistle. The confused defense then watched as Jens Odgaard shot in the 1-1 with a nice action.

Feyenoord then only lost the ball more and got the 1-2 just before half time. Odgaard simply headed the ball in front of the goal and nota bene Vurnon Anita headed in from close range.

It was the first goal in the career of the 1.68 meter long former Ajax player, who celebrated the goal by tapping on his head à la Wesley Sneijder.

With his rare hit, Anita also wins a bet with two of his teammates:
