Former PSV player Schwaab (32) puts his career behind

Ex-PSV player Daniel Schwaab has ended his career immediately, the 32-year-old defender said in an interview with the German football magazine Kicker. He wants to continue as a youth trainer.

“Saying goodbye was not easy for me, I am not that old yet,” said Schwaab. “And there were certainly interesting offers from abroad. But in the end I no longer have the conviction and that is why this decision feels good.

Last game in Groningen

Schwaab started his career at SC Freiburg and ended up at PSV in 2016 via Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart. After three years, he decided to return to Germany to be close to his family, but Mark van Bommel convinced him to accept an offer from PSV in August 2019.

On 8 March of this year, Schwaab played his, as it turns out, last game for PSV at FC Groningen (0-1). After that, football came to a halt due to the corona crisis and his expiring contract was not renewed.
