Mercedes lifts a corner of the veil on new electric models

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is the electric version of the new S-Class, which will debut in the Netherlands at the end of this year. It is based on the concept that the manufacturer showed last year. Mercedes-Benz will also make an EQE based on the same platform, which is a slightly smaller car in the size of the current E-class.

Both models should be released in 2021 and a year later, SUV variants of both versions will also be released. Mercedes-Benz does not yet provide concrete technical details. In an announcement, the German car brand speaks of a range of up to 700 kilometers, measured on the basis of the WLTP standard.

The upcoming EQS, EQE and EQS SUV are the first cars to be based on a new platform developed specifically for electric cars. Mercedes-Benz will also continue to electrify the existing platforms. For example, the EQA will go into production later this year. This electric variant of the GLA is a compact SUV. Production of the EQB will start next year. That’s an electric SUV based on the current GLB.
