Nice weather with Pentecost? These are fun outdoor activities for the weekend

We are lucky: the weather will be nice at Pentecost. We had to wait a long time for the warm weather, but after a pleasant Ascension weekend there is a sunny prospect again. Get on your bike or take a nice walk through the woods and parks of the Netherlands. The Pentecost weekend promises a lot of sun, so make sure to apply sunscreen. Curious what there is to do? Pentecost fair

An activity with the children during Pentecost. The fairs in Heerenveen and Almere-Stad are ready to welcome you from today until Monday 29 May. There are also fairgrounds in Delfzijl, Heemstede and Rotterdam (Prinsenpark). In Heerenveen you can enjoy live music and fireworks shows. Don’t you like all those incentives? No problem. There is also a stimulus-free Saturday at the fair in Heerenveen. You can then enjoy the fair from 10:30 am to 1 pm, without all the music and lights.

Pentecost races Zandvoort

Are you a real car fan and do you like the roar of big engines? Then this activity is probably perfect for you. Enjoy tearing cars on the track with a nice sun on the face. It is often a bit cooler on the beach, so bring a jacket just to be on the safe side. Suppose you want to go out for a day with the whole family, but not everyone likes cars, then the beach is also a wonderful place to relax.

Bicycle Elfstedentocht

For more than a hundred years, this event has been welcoming participants. They cover 235 kilometers through the nature of Friesland. The cyclists start in Bolsward and that is also the place where they end. There is plenty to do for spectators. They can fully enjoy a tasty snack and drink during Pentecost.

Jazz in Duketown

Feel like Brabant cosiness? In Den Bosch you can enjoy jazz music. It is the largest free jazz festival in the Netherlands. Enjoy a nice drink and live music. The festival is easily accessible by public transport. It is about a ten minute walk from Den Bosch Central Station. Ideal if none of your group wants to be the BOB.

Shop around at the Pentecost markets

The Pentecost market of Vlissingen will be held on the local boulevard on Sunday this year. It promises to be great weather, so getting some fresh air on the beach can’t hurt. Moreover, at Experience De Spring at Cannenburch Castle in Vaassen you can enjoy nice tents and culinary food.

Mud, slippery and hard?

Do you feel more like really relaxing completely during Pentecost? The forests and nature parks are the perfect place for this. The Netherlands has several play forests for young people, such as the Belevenisbos in Lelystad. You can also take a walk on barefoot paths. Yes, you heard that right: you can leave your shoes at home (or in the car). The trails are soft, hard, slippery and also muddy. So you feel completely one with nature!
