Real Madrid strikes first against Liverpool in Champions League

Real Madrid has struck the first battle against Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. In the small Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano, where of course there was no audience, the formation of Zinedine Zidane triumphed 3-1. Next Wednesday is the return in England.

Three seasons ago, the thirteen-time cup winner from Spain and the six-time tournament winner from England faced each other for the last time. At the time, it was no less than the final, which Real Madrid managed to win 3-1 in Kiev.

There may have been chances of revenge for Liverpool in advance, as the home team had to do without the trusted duo in the center of the defense. In addition to the injured veteran Sergio Ramos, Raphaël Varane was also unable to make an appearance due to a corona infection. Moreover, Real had lost all of the last four home matches in the Champions League without Ramos in the ranks.

However, Real immediately took the reins. A first header from Vinícius Júnior still bumped next to the English goal, but after half an hour the 20-year-old Brazilian was successful. He deftly controlled a beautiful deep pass from Toni Kroos with the chest and passed Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson with a dry shot.
