Schulting lets go of the NK short track because of minor groin complaints

Suzanne Schulting has withdrawn from the NK short track in Leeuwarden this weekend. The defending champion is struggling with minor groin complaints and with a view to the Olympic Games in Beijing, she does not want to take any risks.

The preliminary rounds of the NK shottrack will be held on Friday. The finals will be held on Sunday. After the Dutch Championships, the intercalated International Invitation Cup is also the last showdown before the Games in Leeuwarden in mid-January.

Due to the cancellation of the European Championship short track in Dresden, Germany, the Dutch short track association has organized the second Invitation Cup of the season.

Schulting was still at the Olympic qualifying tournament of long track speed skating last week, but was unable to leave her mark there. She rode the 500 meters there on Tuesday and then started preparing for the Dutch National Championships this weekend.

The Olympic short track champion in the 1000 meters had no problems after that and emphasizes that the cancellation for the Dutch National Championships really serves as a precautionary measure.
