Short tracker Roes sustains an ankle bruise and misses the Dordrecht World Cup

Short track speed skater Sven Roes sustained an ankle bruise during the last training for the World Cup short track in Dordrecht during a heavy fall. He therefore does not play and is replaced by Friso Emons.

Initially, it was feared that the 2020 Dutch champion had recorded a fracture in the ankle after he crashed into the bend and flew against the boarding at a speed of around 50 kilometers per hour. Research in the hospital, however, showed that the nature of the injury is relatively minor.

His participation in next year’s Winter Games in Beijing is therefore not in danger.

Semi-finals bet

During the fourth World Cup of the Olympic year, the Dutch men have to win the maximum number of starting tickets for Beijing 2022. They qualify for this when three riders join the top 21 skaters during the heats of the 1,500 meters on Thursday and thus qualify for the semi-finals.
