Tennis players finished with tumult around Djokovic: “We all just want to continue”

It should become clear on Sunday whether or not the number one in the world can participate in the tournament or whether he still has to leave the country. Djokovic is now again in a detention center, where he went voluntarily.

At the press conferences held prior to the tournament in Australia, just about every tennis player and tennis star was asked for a reaction to the case. Much to the annoyance of Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Talking about tennis

“I’m here to talk about tennis, not Novak Djokovic. But I won’t lie. It has been in the news constantly for the past few weeks. This case has received a lot of attention, a lot of people are talking about it,” says the number four of the world. “That’s why I’m here to talk about tennis, because there has been too little about that in recent weeks and that is very unfortunate.”

Garbiñe Muguruza thinks it’s all taking too long. “Now we all just want to move on and focus on the beautiful aspect of the start of a grand slam tournament.”

The Australian Open starts next Monday. In the singles, Botic van de Zandschulp, Tallon groenpoor, Arantxa Rus and surprise Arianne Hartono are participating in the tournament on behalf of the Netherlands.
