Tesla Cybertruck coming later: production postponement

According to the insider, the delay has to do with adjustments being made to the Cybertruck. The company is expected to start limited production of the model in the first quarter of 2023 and then ramp it up later.

CEO Elon Musk unveiled the futuristic-looking vehicle in 2019. Musk would provide more details about the production plans around the Cybertruck when the quarterly results are announced later this month. The model is to be built at the Tesla factory in Texas. Tesla says it has already received many orders.

With the Cybertruck, Tesla wants to respond to the great popularity of pick-ups in the American home market. Rivals such as Ford Motor and Rivian are also busy bringing electric pick-ups to the market there. For example, Ford has announced that it will double the annual production of the new electric F-150 Lightning to 150,000 units. That model should be for sale at dealers this spring and customer demand is high, according to Ford.
